Jessica Bierman Haag was the ying to my yang for many years, sharing the front of the stage for country shows around the state. “Share” would imply that we were equals up on stage…we most certainly were not. Jess was the reason people came to see “us”. She always had that “it factor”, an unforgettable energy and she shined so bright belting out those beautiful melodies! After 8 years of road trips, and a million amazing memories, Jess and I both decided to pause or musical journeys and focus more time on our working careers and very young families. It didn’t take long for us both to realize that leaving music completely wasn’t an option and that we needed to get back on stage and do what we loved most…sing/entertain. We decided we were going to put together a small acoustic act together, play small bars and private venues...get back on that musical horse. I went out and bought a cool sound system, mics, cords…everything we needed to get started but just days later, Jess called me and shared an unthinkable cancer diagnosis. She fought bravely but we never were able to get our show up and going. Jess left this world in the summer of 2020 and though her passing left holes in many hearts, I’m certain that she’s been giving heaven a whole bunch of hell since! I decided later that year, that I was going to follow through and start
our show. It will never be the same without her but certain songs, certain notes…I know she’s there…singing with me!
Jess' amazing husband Steve started a beautiful foundation in her memory in 2022, that provides families who are given a terminal diagnosis, a family vacation and more-important, lifelong memories together! Please check out their website and consider donating to this unbelievable cause! And watch for musical events through the year to help support the Just Jess Foundation - I'll be there rocking any chance I get!
